Keeping Fit and Active – Esquared Fitness App Review

It is finally happening beautiful people… Keeping fit and active is slowly being reintroduced back into my daily regime (hurrah) Being a bit of a self confessed tech nerd too, I was beyond excited when I recieved an email from the lovely people at Esquared Fitness to try out their fitness app on my smartphone .

What Is Esquared Fitness?

For those that are not familiar, Esquared Fitness App allows the user to participate in a fitness class or gym without being bound by membership contracts.

It is the Pay as You go version of trying out an array of different fitness classes, outdoor bootcamps, independent boutiques and swimming pools within London. Prices range from a reasonable £7. 00 to a higher budget of £30.00.

Initial Thoughts On Esquared Fitness App

I was impressed that the Esquared Fitness app is available to download on both ios and android devices. I usually find most of the fitness apps I want to use is for ios only so being an android user for the best part of 7 years things were off to a good start.

Once downloaded one is required to input a few personal details so that the app can tailor which areas in London has a venue for the classes you wish to book onto.

Unfortunately for me, living the suburbs of West London meant there was no fitness classes to attend locally but if I ventured closer to central London I was spoilt for choice!

App Functionality

I found the Esquared Fitness app very user friendly and very easy to operate. It doesn’t take up too much storage space either which is an added bonus.

Choosing A Class

At the point of first signing up, one has the option to choose the types of classes of interest and this can be altered anytime by clicking onto your profile within the drop down menu.

I decided to choose either a yoga or a pilates class as being 3.5 months post giving birth to my beautiful daughter, I wanted to do something that wasn’t too strenuous on my body and worked areas such as core strength, pelvic floor and a focus on overall well being.

A feature I was most impressed with after choosing a class was the integrated Google map of the exact location, which leaves the user with one less thing to think about en route to the destination.

Booking A Class

For some reason I anticipated this part to be difficult and the process was actually very straightforward.

After choosing my class of choice and pressing ‘make a booking’ a mini health questionnaire pops up which you fill in according to your health.

This information is sent straight to the venue so no need to arrive early and fill out forms, a big hit with me.

Once complete you finalise your booking using a credit or debit card to secure your class. It’s that simple!

Final Thoughts On Esquared Fitness App

I really loved using this app as it has introduced me to many classes and venues I otherwise wouldn’t have known about or gone to. It really is the perfect tool for fitness enthusiasts to mix up their training regime whilst exploring the London Fitness scene.

My only bug bear (a small critique) is that the app doesn’t appear to have any pre/ post natal fitness classes within its database.

I know these classes exist in London but couldn’t help but feel a little excluded as a mother to 3.5 month old and 2.5 year old. Having a few baby friendly classes to choose from would have been nice as it is not always possible to sought childcare to attend a fitness class.

More importantly than this is making sure the fitness instructor of the class attended is knowledgeable in pre / post natal fitness for those like I who are returning to fitness after giving birth.

This is very important as one might find themselves unknowingly carrying out exercises not suitable for issues such as a weakened pelvic floor or diastasis recti  following the birth of a baby thus potentially making any problems worse.
