Mamas Night Out: 7 Simple Options For Letting Your Hair Down

As a mother, you know that your time is precious. Because not only are you responsible for yourself (and perhaps even the home and your spouse), but you’ve got little ones that are relying on you too. It can be tough. When you’re a time poor mum, you may feel as if you don’t even have time for yourself or to feel your best, let alone to do something fun.

But, if you want to be the best possible mother that you can be to your kids, it’s really important for you to be able to relax and unwind.

Because when you’re happy and healthy, then they can become much happier and healthier too. It’s just natural. So, how do you make this work?

Well, you need to plan well. And you need to have a set schedule too. It’s just so important for you to be able to have a way of fitting it all in. And sure, maybe you’re not going to go out and party every single week or even month, but you do need respite.

And this is why planning in mama time or mamas night out with her friends is crucial. The good thing is, this can look like a range of different things.

So let’s consider some ideas that can allow you to let your hair down and relax.

1. Go For A Drink (Or Coffee)

First of all, it could be something as simple as meeting up for a drink of the last Friday evening of the month. Or every other Wednesday. Or every Monday night if you wanted to do it often.

If you can schedule in a quiet drink or two with friends, it gives you something to look forward to each week or month.

2. See A Movie

Or perhaps you’d love to do a movie night? Sometimes, going to the cinema once a month gives you a few hours to yourself.

Or, you could even keep a group chat going so that when new movies are released, you can all decide between who you wants to see what and when!

3. Plan For Set Occasions

Now, sometimes, you just might not be able to allocate for too much time away from the family – especially for bigger things.

So plan them. If you know that you have a friend’s wedding coming up, plan out hen do ideas in advance. Do the same for big birthdays.

If you all plan in the set dates throughout the year, it’s much easier for you to make it work. Plus, you’ll have all the fun planning and then the anticipation of the event coming up too.

4. Go To Book Club

If you want something relaxed, calm, and regular to look forward to, then why not join a book club? You could also do it online!

Even if you’re not a big reader, you could find a languages group or some kind of other special interest group to join.

That way, you’ll be able to meet up with likeminded people regularly, perhaps for an hour each week, for your own peace and enjoyment.

5. Join A Gym

Another option you have here, is to focus on your health and fitness. Maybe you can get one or two time slots a week where you can go to the gym? You could coordinate your schedule with fellow mama friends  to make it more social.

Or to a yoga class with them instead. That way, you’re focusing on your health and you’re going something with your friends too.

6. Set A Dinner Date

Another ongoing option could be dinner. Perhaps like the drink idea, you could say that on a set day each month, you and all of your girlfriends meet up for dinner?

Or maybe you arrange with different girlfriends to do different dates and then look to keep a repeating date every few months with each friend so that you have a roster of occasions to look forward to?

7. Do Something Active

Finally, it might be that once a month or however often, you actually want to get to and do something active? Maybe you work in an office or you’re in the house with your kids all day and you’re itching to do something fun?

So why not book to go skiing or horseback riding or go on a Sunday hike with your friends?

Remember, to have time to yourself or with friends, does’t have to be in the evening. As long as you’re doing something for you.
