Sharing my SMART GOALS for 2019

Hello 2019, and hellooo January! Firstly, Happy New Year Beautiful People. Am I the only one that feels like 2018 passed us by with a wink of an eye? I guess I partly feel this way as I look at my crawling, sitting unassisted, baby led weaning daughter who is 7 months old on Friday and just cannot believe that a whole 7 months has somehow flown by.

As we leave one year behind and enter the next I always get very reflective during this time of year to see what SMART GOALS I could set myself in 2019.

I am also striving to be the best version of myself as I believe we are forever a work in progress and never the finished article.

GETTING ORGANISED

Of course no one is perfect but for me 2019 is going to be about finally getting my butt in gear to conquer my lifetime achievement of being super disorganised in my day to day life.

I’ll admit to frankly winging it! I desperately want to be more in control by adding some sort of structure to my day, especially that I’m a stay at home mother to two awesome humans under 3 who also engages in freelance writing work .

After analysing the various ways to keep organised I think a time boxing app will help someone like me who severely underestimates time and how long tasks actually take to complete.

I’m also looking into getting a content planner for my blog so I can plan content in advance and not miss any relevant awareness days related to the content I create on this little platform of mine.

KEEPING ACTIVE

Pre pregnancy I was a fitness fanatic. I was regularly attending my local Kickboxing Academy and obtained my 1st degree black belt.

I also discovered a genuine LOVE for Obstacle Course Racing and could be found at a local park doing various HIIT and Calisthenics workouts. I was, what you’d call hardcore!

I worked out for many reasons. Apart from genuinely loving the feeling of being pushed to my limits and getting a natural high from the endorphins after a great session, I worked out to keep me sane.

I didn’t know it at the time but engaging in exercise and sporting activities was my way of dealing with any negative situation or an off day I was having.

It is only through being out of action for the best part of 3.5 years that I realised just how cluttered and foggy my mind has got without regular exercise. At current my mind feels all over the place and I miss the positive impact exercise had on me.

And so… 2019 will be the year I return to fitness. I recognise that I cannot simply pick up from where I left off as my body has changed so much since housing and birthing two babies over the period of 4 years so need to start off slow.

I’m thinking Yoga for stretches and mindfulness and some type of boxing or post partum friendly HITT sessions where babies are welcome as my daughter is still breastfed alongside eating small amounts of solid foods so goes wherever I go.

RE LEARN MATHEMATICS

I have made it no secret that I left high school without a single GCSE to my name. But worked hard in my day job and gained promotions where I was eventually offered an opportunity to obtain a degree within my field as a Quantity Surveyor while also working.

Even though 5 years later I graduated with a 2:2 my lack of knowledge in maths especially was a real struggle throughout the course and honestly felt Waaaay out of my depth.

Despite this I am motivated more than ever to relearn mathematics and eventually resit a GCSE in the subject.

Why you may ask after getting my many years without it?

The answer…. My children.

I don’t want to be that parent who cannot help their offspring with homework / coursework due to lack my own lack of knowledge.

I want to be able to help them in all areas of life.

So even if that means relearning a few school subjects in order to fully understand what they are being taught I will do that, for them and for me.
