Sunwarrior Review – Plant Based Raw Vegan Protein Powder

As each day goes by I realise that it is not a necessity to consume meat, fish and poultry on a daily basis. Through choice, I have cut down my meat and poultry consumption from seven days a weeks to four, sometimes three days a week depending how I feel. Having done a fair amount of research into high protein plant based foods, I came across Sunwarrior Protein Powder.

Drawn in once again by the smart packaging and the cleaver use of vibrant imagery on the products  (product image is everything to catch a consumer eye) I began researching this brand further. I was particularly interested in the ingredients used to create such a nutritent rich anti-oxident powerhouse suitable for vegans, vegetarian’s and those health concious individuals looking for a healthy balance within their diet.

Sunwarrior offer two types of protein powder, the ‘Classic Protein’ range and ‘Warrior Blend’ Range.

The Classic Protein Range is available in three different flavours: Chocolate, Vanilla and Natural.

Below is the nutritional breakdown and ingredients of the Chocolate Flavour.

It is said to contain all essential and non-essential amino acids within a perfectly balanced profile. It made it even more appealing to me when I learned this range is free from Gluten, Solvents, GMOs, Radiation, Artificial flavors, Artificial Preservatives and  Artificial Colours *grins like a cheshire cat*

The Warrior Blend Range is also available in Chocolate, Natural and Vanilla flavours.

Below is the nutritional breakdown and ingredients of the Natural Flavour.

As well as being free from Solvents, GMOs, Radiation, Artificial Flavours, Artificial Preservatives and Artificial Colours it also contains NO animal products such as Diary, Egg, Gluten, Soy, Added Sugar, Wheat or Yeast!!!

The ‘Warrior Blend’ range boasts a number of health benefits:

  • Promotes a Healthy Heart
  • Promotes Healthy Kidney and Liver functions
  • Increases metabolism to burn fat while building muscle
  • Easy to digest whilst creating a feeling of fullness
  • Is a green, hypoallergenic food
  • Improves mental clarity
  • Great source of energy
  • No cholesterol

I was sent the ‘Classic Protein’ Chocolate Flavour and ‘Warrior Blend’ Natural to incorporate into my fitness regime and made a heavenly concoction of natural goodness on Sunday night after training (recipe to follow)

I must admit that I was a little sceptical at first, having never tasted a plant based protein powder in my 28years of living lol so wondered quite often wondered if it was something I was going to enjoy. Needless to say I was pleasently suprised by the taste, texture and lightness of the Classic Protein Chocolate Flavour I had used to create my post-training cocktail of natural goodness (it was YUM)

I was impressed by the way the powder quickly turned into a smooth, light and creamy texture when shaking the mixture in my sports flask, it couldn’t have been no more than 10-15secs to fully disolve! This made me happy as the Whey Protein Isolate Powders I have used in the past took more than double the time to fully disolve whilst vigorously shaking to ensure no lumps or powder were left in the liquid.

I plan to get super creative with these Sunwarrior products and look forward to making various different recipes with them *Protein Ice Cream and Sweet Treats spring to mind*

The Sunwarrior brand are not just for Vegans or Vegetarian’s, they are made for everyone. According to a quotation on the Sunwarrior website, “it has a 98% Correlation rate to Mothers Milk and a 98.2% digestion efficiency making it one of the highest digestibility and efficiency ratings of any other protein sources”.
