Chi Drinks – Chocolate Coconut Milk A Nutritiously Balanced Diary Free Low Calorie Alternative

Those that know me personally know I am coconut mad! I  just cannot get enough of the stuff, be it coconut oil, coconut flour, coconut water or coconut bath stuff *you get me drift*. The humble coconut, especially the young green coconuts sourced from South East Asia and Thailand are known for the amazing nutritious benefits and good fats this superfood contains. Upon searching the net for something new, I stumbled across coconut water brand Chi Drinks.

Now I am no stranger to coconut water, and have tasted an array of variations different brands have to offer. Whilst some tasted better than others, none quite met my needs in terms of convenience whilst training until Chi that is. The fact that their 330 ml cartons, wait all of their products are made with a screw top lid as opposed to foil pull backs types other brands use instantly won me over. Their stunning packaging and design also made me take notice to investigate further.

Whilst going through their products page on their website, I was ecstatic to learn they had other natural coconut water infused flavours such as

  • Mango
  • Pineapple
  • Tropical Fruits
  • Chocolate Coconut Milk
  • Espresso Coconut Milk

Given that I have a sweet tooth that needs satisfying once maybe twice a week lol, I decided to try their Chocolate Coconut Milk first. It is made with coconut cream that is blended with the highest cocoa Chi can find. The drink also contains added chicory fibre ( also known as inulin ) making it pre-biotic, which is known to aid digestion.

One 330 ml serving contains protein, good fats, fibre, vitamins B, C and E and is a rich source of potassium, selenium, calcium and iron.

As for the nutritional breakdown each serving contains (sourced from Planet Organic)

  • 25 cals
  • 0.5 g protein
  • 8.3 g carbohydrates
  • 2.1 g fats
  • 1.1 g fibre

I highly recommend you leave the cartons in the fridge to chill for a couple of hours before consuming. Once nice and cold, this little beaut of a drink is just wooow. *if you don’t believe me try it yourself*

It is very light to taste, yet extremely silky and velvety, just as you would expect chocolate to be. It is not thick or sickly as first anticipated and the cocoa works a treat with the coconut cream.

Whilst I have yet to try this myself, I have been told that it also works an absolute dream as a hot chocolate alternative when put in a sourcepan and heated on the stove for no more than 2-3 mins *yummm*
