Prioritize Your Sleep

It can be tough to get enough sleep when you’re a busy mum, but your sleep quality is imperative to how you feel, as well as how fit and healthy you are.

Sleep can affect your appetite, energy levels, concentration, and so much more. Do your best to get some sleep when your children are sleeping if they are young – there’s no shame in taking naps!

Try to avoid too much TV time in the evening and get into bed with a good book too. An extra hour will do you the world of good.

You can make that work out extra helpful by listening to something useful. If you’re on a run, why not listen to a podcast or YouTube video? You can learn new things, and even change your mindset by doing this! Listen to some Ted Talks and be inspired.

Treat Yourself To A New Fitness Attire

Feeling good when you workout is a must. Don’t cover yourself up with baggy T shirts and bottoms. How about buying a nice workout t-shirt in sweat wicking fabric that flatters your figure, and some leggings that you love?

When you’re wearing an outfit you enjoy, you’re far more motivated and likely to want to go and work out in the first place.

Prepping your food in advance stops you from reaching for junk food when you haven’t had time to eat anything properly. There are all kinds of things you can prep and freeze for later, and it will only take an hour or so out of your day once per week!

Think ahead and it’ll help you to fill your body with foods that are good, wholesome and nutritious for you and it will help you to feel on top form.

Find A Gym That Offers Child Care

How about looking for a gym that offers child care, so you don’t have to worry about getting a sitter?

Alternatively, if you really love fitness, how about setting up your own business so you can stay fit and dedicate more time to your child (ren) and home life?

You’ll have more flexibility if you decide to do something like Kettlebells CPD training and host your own classes.

Top Tips From Fellow Parent Bloggers

To conclude this article I asked a few of my parenting blogger friends to kindly share their health and fitness hacks with me and this is what they had to say…

Emma over at Emma Reed Writes  “Try doing exercises as you do things around the home. Squats as you load the dishwasher, repeat steps on the stairs to burn some more calories, lunges whilst feeding the baby, dance to music with the kids. Anything to get you moving!!”

Eileen over at Your Money Sorted suggested..” Always take the stairs rather than lifts/escalators, park in spaces further away from shops, just take things upstairs rather than leaving them on the stairs to take up later, when possible stand, rather than sitting when completing tasks. These simple changes will burn more calories, and keep you naturally more healthy, without even thinking about it”.

Erica who writes over at The Incidental Parent rightly says.. “If you’re physically able (and have the time) walk the school/nursery run. It makes the world of difference!
