Four Tips To Turn Exercise Into A Habit

Disclaimer: This is a partnered post. Exercise is great for your bones, muscles, weight, sleep, and heart. Staying fit can also help you live a longer, healthier life. You will get more benefits from exercising if you turn it into a regular habit rather than an occasional burst of activity.

Even small amounts such as 10 minutes of aerobic exercise every day can reduce your risk of heart disease.

If you haven’t exercised in a while, you need to ease yourself into it. Otherwise, you are risking muscle pain or damage, or a possible stress fracture.

This may prevent you from working out again. You should choose to start slowly, steadily building up to working out longer and harder.

So, how do you motivate yourself to turn exercise into part of your routine? Let’s have a look below:

Prepare Yourself

You should do some research about the types of exercises that are out there and have a think about what ones you would like to try. You don’t always enjoy the same exercise as someone else so make sure you don’t compare.

Once you have chosen what you like to do and tried it a few times you may want to use a sports kit designer to get yourself kitted out properly.

Find Something Fun

Choose exercises you find comfortable and fun. You are much more likely to make time for a workout, activity, or class if you enjoy it. If you love music try Zumba or aquaerobics.

If you love the fresh air go for a cycle or run through the park. If you like a bit of competition try tennis or golf. The key is to look forward to it not dread it.

Make It Convenient

If you have to carve out too much time or go far out of your normal routine, it’s likely you will ever stick to a new exercise plan. It will easily become a habit if it fits in with your normal schedule. Some people like to get up a little earlier and have a workout before showering.

Some may use weights while watching tv in the evening, and some may go for a sunset stroll because it’s cooler outside. The trick is to make it fit in disguised as part of your daily routine.

Try dancing while you vacuum the house, use the stairs instead of the lift, and take a brisk walk with your dog rather than a stroll.

Do Small Workouts

A great way of including exercise into your existing routine is to start off with 10-minute slots. Plan to do five 10-minute walks each week. Once you are hitting this goal every week, you could increase it in a couple of days. For example, go for a long run or take an exercise class instead.

These four tips should help you to include exercise into your existing routine without it taking up too much time. It should turn it into a habit that is hard to break.
