Premae Skincare Mattifying Mousse Colour Match Review – The World’s 1st Vegan & Allergy Free Mango Butter Foundation

FOUNDATION SOFT ENOUGH TO SLEEP IN? Come again! I can picture your confused and unconvinced faces as I sit here typing this very article. Why would anyone be foolish enough to do that I hear you say?  Well, these are the very words that instantly grabbed my attention when coming across glimpses of imagery and short video footage of Premae Skincare’s upcoming NEW Mattifying Mousse Foundation a few weeks ago on Twitter.

Completely intrigued and drawn in to such BOLD claims, I began to investigate this new product further. Not only is Premae Skincare Mattifying Mousse The World’s 1st Vegan and Allergy Free Mango Butter Based Foundation, it is also available in an incredible 15 shades, ranging from pale to very dark.

As you can imagine, this was music to my ears, for finding a foundation to match ones exact skin-tone can be a laborious task at times, especially for women of colour. All too often, I find the shades available on offer from cosmetic brands, in particular natural and organic are either too light or too dark! You see women of colour come in an array of skin-tones and complexions (we don’t fit one colour!)

Keen to find out more about this new foundation and after striking up a conversation with the brainchild behind Premae Skincare Lady Clare Eluka via Twitter, I was told I could book in advance to come along to The Allergy Show and get colour matched at the foundation launch.

Knowing that my friend and green beauty writer in crime BeFit would also be interested, I advised her to book her appointment straight after I mine.

We arrived 15 mins before my appointment and was greeted by the delightful Lady Clare herself.

Premae’s MM Foundation comes in a lovely square glass jar with their distinctive black logo centring the lid. Each Shade Number and Foundation Name (which is inspired by the various super foods and vegan produce Clare personally eats as part of her Vegan diet)  is clearly printed in black at the front of the jar.

The concept of naming each foundation after such joyous foods such as Quinoa and Sweet Dates is pure genius as it lets me the consumer and potential customer know, even before I inspect the ingredients on the label that this product is going to be as close to natural as possible. Score 9/10

Before I began my make-over, Lady Clare underwent a mini consultation to find out first hand my skin types and any issues I experience. I deem my skin very weird, because sometimes it is very greasy and oily looking around my forehead area and other times it dry and flaky around my T-Zone area.

I also informed Clare since transitioning to natural products, I have noticed my face is alot clearer and less prone to breakouts, apart from the time of the month.

Lady Clare informed me this was not unusual and informed my these are symptoms of classic combination skin which was much to my relief! With no alarming skin issues, allergy or concerns she began the first part of my make-over…. the prep.

She began by applying a small amount of Balance Rescue Face Wash to two small cotton pads and began gently massaging my forehead area , working her way down to my cheeks, around my chin, back up to and around my nose finishing off with around and under my eyes.

I noticed how soothing this felt on my face and was then told she would be apply the award winning Harmony Multi-Vit Serum which, in this instance acts as a primer to help the foundation stay on for longer.

Face cleansed and nothing on apart from a touch of  lipstick which I applied prior to setting out to the allergy show, below is what I look like BEFORE my Premae Skincare MM Foundation Makeover.

My natural rosy cheeks are clearly evident in this picture, together with both red and golden undertones to my face which usually makes it difficult when attempting to colour match a foundation shade that is true to tone! The slight redness you see across my face is how I generally look like after cleansing my face in the morning and night but sport this look (bar the redness) on a daily basis (only wear make-up on special occasions)

Lady Clare swatched a total of three different shades on my left cheek. No 8 Ginger, No 9 Maple, and No 10 Cayenne. As you can see in the picture below courtesy of Bei, one of the shades is almost invisible (I really had to strain with contacts in to see it) making incredibly true to tone.

The angle at which I was looking at the swatches in the mirror made it hard for me to successfully choose the preferred shade and trusted Bei’s judgement when she concluded Shade 10 Cayenne was my best match. Bear in mind the UK has been blessed with glorious sunshine over the past few weeks and by being out and about to and from work, I have got a few shades darker in skin-tone due to my body producing melanin very easily.

It is advised that women should have two sets of foundation, our natural shade during long winter months and a slightly darker shade during summer months to accommodate sun tan’s we are prone to getting so assume I would drop down to Shade 9 or even 8 as we approach Winter please god.

Cayenne shade chosen, Lady Clare began applying the foundation, and with my eyes closed I was oblivious to how much or little was going on face until Bei made mention my entire face was flawlessly covered with hardly any foundation being used!

Keen to see the results for myself I asked for a mirror and was shocked to see a flawless complexion staring back at me. Never in my life have I worn foundation WITHOUT a concealer before (I have always had dark circles as the picture above clearly shows) and was even more astounded that Clare had barely covered my under eye area. Clare finished off with a bit more coverage to my under eyes and few spritz of Rescue Face Tonique to dehydrate my face.

Below is the difference AFTER my Premae Skincare MM Foundation Makeover. Score 10/10 as it has enough buildable coverage to eliminate the use of a previously needed concealer forever (a very happy lady)

Verdict
What can I say, if I wasn’t impressed with the pre launch images and video footage I came across those few weeks ago, I am completely sold on this product and now a true Premae covert! With Bei being my witness a lady stopped me whilst we were walking around The Allergy Show to complement me on my flawless complexion and how glowing and radient my face looked.

Here’s a little ‘selfie’ (gosh I despise that word) that Bei and I took post our MM Foundation makeover and much to my embarrassment would you believe a further four complete strangers complemented on how flawless my face looked!!!

My foundation was applied just after 11am on Saturday morning and decided that I would leave it on for the entire day. It felt incredibly light on my face and not cakey looking as other brand tend to make you look, and the few times I had to blow my nose (sorry people) there was hardly any foundation smudges in sight (that’s a first).

If you missed your chance to get down to The Allergy Show this weekend, get colour matched by Lady Clare herself and bag yourself what I anticipate and predict to be a well received foundation in the Natural Cosmetics Industry *watch this space* I highly recommend you consider making this product a part of your make-up essentials. If you’re after a foundation made with natural ingredients that is kind to your skin, is vegan AND Allergen UK certified then Premae Skincare Mattifying Mousse will be right up your street!

Overall Score 9/10 bumped up to 9.5 /10 because of the last result.

So is Premae Skincare REALLY Soft Enough To Sleep In?

I put this bold claim to the test….

Soon after reaching home and after getting up quite early on a Saturday morning I was extremely tired. I took my contacts out, changed into my PJ’s and went straight to bed for a little powernap.

The Mr had to ask numerous times ‘Boo, are you gonna take your foundation off?, you can’t sleep in that!’ but eventually left me to my devices when he realised I was  becoming less and less respondent.

A good few hours later I naturally awoke and remembered that I actually fell asleep with my foundation on (shock horror) and after a thorough inspection on my blue and white pillow and duvet, I was amazed to learn there wasn’t a hint of foundation smudges in sight!

Always being the one to test out claims and find out for myself, I can honestly confirm this foundation is indeed remarkably soft enough to sleep in!

But what about my face, surely it looked a hot mess I though! Expecting my face to be streaked with foundation smudges and rubbed off in areas I took to the bathroom to look in the mirror. Despite my flat hat hair and messy look due to sleeping, this is how my faced looked after sleeping in the foundation for approx 3.5 hours (excuse the tired dreamy looking eyes)

My skin wasn’t irritated at all and still felt really soft to touch. How Lady Clare created such a masterpiece will forever remain a mystery to me but one things for sure, I shall be purchasing this foundation on my next paydate together with the other products used to prep my skin whilst highly recommending this product to my family, friends and you lovely people that stop by to read this article.
