After searching the net for ways I can improve my handwriting as an adult approximately 20 minutes ago, it was sheer coincidence to discover that today 23rd January 2015 actually marks the day of National Handwriting Day, thus giving me inspiration to share this knowledge with you and write type  this very article.

Truth be told, my handwriting is atrocious! Before you start, I’m not being hard on myself it actually is illegible, especially when under pressure or having to write during a time trialled exam. For as long as I can remember I have never been able to or wasn’t instilled in me how to write Cursive (joined up writing) or Connected This has always bothered greatly me during my primary, especially high school days being the child in a group with messy handwriting but personally find it much more of a problem now that I am an adult who, in a few months time, will be turning 30 please god.

Tis true, I do not have to physically write much on a day to day basis, but needless to say I am extremely embarrassed of my illegible handwriting on the rare occasion I need to put pen to paper, so decided to take it upon myself at the beginning of this month as part of my 2015 pledges on self improvement to practice my handwriting on a daily basis in a bid to make my writing neater and presentable.

My Handwriting Pledge

Believe me when I say, I had to concentrate pretty hard and write extremely s.l.o.w in order to make my handwritng pledge legible whilst attempting to block out the painful cramps I get the minute pen is put to paper (a common trait in dyslexic individuals), but wanted to share this visual with you to it as a benchmark and compare my progress over the next few months and indeed, a year from now please god.

Whilst I am now working towards improving my handwriting on a daily basis, I cannot however knock the keyboard, not only because I can type much faster than I would when writing, but simply because of the lifesaving software that is spell-check to stop the spelling mistakes I often make from happening.

How do you feel about your own handwriting and handwriting in general? Should we as a generation set more time aside to practice this art form? Feel free to leave me a comment.
