One of the reasons to LOVE Spring and Summer months aside from the blessings of a warmer climate is to retire ones mass of dark coloured clothing to the very back of our wardrobe and replace them with fun yet striking vibrant bold colours! Should you be actively looking for a high end, luxury tailor-made statement dress to wear for that special occasion or in my instance an event, you might just fall head over heels in love with Vanessa Gounden My Africa SS15 Collection.

Vanessa Gounden’s collection was brought to my attention following a Gorkana Request I created whilst seeking a collaboration with a fashion brand or designer for my 1st ever public speaking event in the form of Women On The Crossroads Awesome You Motivational Dinner, and once I previewed the look book I instantly fell in love with Vanessa’s ever colourful yet striking African inspired creations.

Iselwa (A Xhosa Word: meaning “Calabash” Calabash/Pots – a unique symbol of the African continent, Calabash embodies the melting pot of African tradition across all cultures, religions and languages – the philosophy of living in harmony with the bounty of nature and the preservation of natural traditions against the pitfalls of modernity and urbanization. The Calabash Pot represents the pleasant natural coolness of the water it holds, the smells of the earth, the woody flavours and earthy aromas of the meat it cooks. Calabash is generosity, openness of heart and mind in an Africa that is unique and unlike any other place on earth.

Vanessa Gounden pop up boutique can be found in the heart of the ever trendy Knightsbridge, 19 Beauchamp Place, London with her tailor made creations starting from £245.00.
