Breakfast, simply created to break the fasting period prior to the night before. It should be our first meal we consume early in the morning after arising from a nights sleep before we undertake the day ahead of us. If you’re anything like me, you could probably relate to running out of the door in a maaad rush to start your day without setting aside half an hour to sit down, eat breakfast and let your food digest. Should you find yourself sitting in this bracket when time is not your side, have a read of my Top 8 Healthy Breakfast Ideas For Busy People.

Chi-Chi-Chi-Chi-Chiiiaaaa Pudding

Having discovered this tiny but MIGHTY powerhouse of a superfood earlier this year , Chia Seeds effortlessly makes it into my own top 3 superfood must have list and was absolutely delighted upon discovering ** The Chia Co‘s recent invention…The Chia Pod. If you live in the UK, these wonderfully tasting pudding creations are available in four different flavours, Vanilla Bean and Cinnamon, Banana, Mango and Blueberry. Made with chia seeds, real fruit and coconut milk, my personal favourite has to be Banana, closely followed by Mango. Packed with 100% RDA of Omega 3 and 25% of RDA fiber, I find myself reaching for these joyous little pots if I’ve ran out of actual chia seeds to make the pudding myself.

The Chia Co Chia Pod can be purchased from a number of online health stores including online retailer Ocado where prices start from £2.39.

Healthy Snack Bars

There is no denying my love for a decently sized, highly nutritious, refined sugar free and vegan friendly superfood snack bar, and whilst I have tried a fair few of vegan brands on the market, there is none as clean tasting as those of a **Naked Bar in my humble opinion! Available in an array of flavours to suit every taste bud going, I have lost count of the times I have reached for a bar or two en route onto work! My favourites include choc-orange, cashew cookie, pecan pie and rhubarb and custard and can be brought direct from Natural Balance Foods.

Homemade Granola

Mmmmm Granola… what can I say other than I absolute LOVE the stuff. That said, one has to be extremely careful when purchasing such breakfast alternatives as they are usually rife with refined sugar, something I and fellow health conscious individuals do our best to avoid!

When time doesn’t allow one to make a batch or three of homemade, refined sugar free Granola, I find myself turning to one of two brands, including ** Newtrition‘s Grummy Granola. Made with Organic Spelt, Rye, Oat flakes, Organic Sunflower and Pumpkin Seeds, this extremely soft yet chewy mixture will ignite your taste buds and send your mouth into party overload, not to mention the gorgeous aroma of sweet cinnamon. Grummy, or Scrummy Granola as I like to call it can be purchased direct from Newtrition website where prices range from £4.50 -£8.75 depending on the weight of bag you want to purchase.

Protein Pots

I don’t know if one would call it fortunate to have healthy food chain Pret a Manger a stones throw away from my actual place of work but on the rare occasion where I arrive at work having not eaten breakfast (slap on the wrist) I have taken a liking to running upstairs and purchasing their new small but nutrient rich protein pots, in particular the Golden Roasted Salmon, Avocado, Quinoa and Petit poi’s. This Gluten Free, Egg Free, Diary Free and GM Free delight is less than 225 calories per pot, contains a 12.2 g of protein and will only set you back £2.20. Why not draw inspiration from the ingredients and recreate your own versions the night before.

Nut Butter Spread on Almost Anything

If you have yet to experiment making your own versions of nut butters at home, I highly recommend stocking up on a few jars of Meridian Nut Butter. Made without Palm oil, these natural delightfully tasting spreads are my first choice of nut butter brands. No need to go hunting in specialist health food stores, these beauts can be found in your local supermarket (hurrah).

Introducing the BEST thing since SunPat Peanut Butter (back in the day when I didn’t know best) are Almond Butter, Cashew Butter and Hazelnut Butter. These heavenly protein rich thick spreads of natural goodness can be enjoyed on a toasted bagel or simply spread across sliced apples and bananas (don’t knock it till you’ve tried it folks) , or do what my Mr does and eat 40 g of the stuff by the spoonful as a meal replacement.

Meal Replacement Shake

Not to be mistaken for a ‘protein shake’ **Purition‘s five different products were created as a meal replacement that can be blended with your choice of liquid or simply mixed in with porridge, Greek yoghurt or into a smoothie. Designed specifically for Women this shake differs vastly to the typical meal replacement drinks such as Herbal Life, which is riddled with ingredients longer than 10 words and difficult to pronounce (a tell tell sign to stay clear at all costs) All of Purition’s products however, are made with wholefoods and where primary  ingredients include Whey Protein, Nuts and Seeds.

For mornings where time is of the essence, I personally choose to mix a 40 g serving of Body Pro Coconut flavour with Koko coconut milk and blend for 30 seconds with my promixx as the blender is faaar to loud to put on early in the morning.

A serving of Body Pro leaves me feeling full, keeps the dreaded cravings at bay whilst ensuring my body is running on health fuel. Purition products are refined sugar, gluten, gm and preservative free and can be purchased directly from the Purition website with prices starting from £5.99.

A Bowl of Warm Comforting Hearty Porridge

This new start up company has burst onto the health scene with authority and is currently winning the hearts of many health conscious individuals and food bloggers like I with their four item product range. **Dr Gaye’s Super Porridge is made from superfood power houses including sprouted buckwheat, coconut flower, ground almonds, dried white mulberries, chia seeds, banana powder, maca root powder and sweetened with natural sweetener lucuma powder.

Priced at £14.50 (500 g) when brought directly from their site Dr Gaye Super-Shake, a 40 g serving with your liquid of choice will no doubt leave you feeling satisfied and content until lunch time. I must point out this mix surprisingly works well when making homemade healthy pancake stacks (recipe available soon)

Homemade Superfood Green Juice

A superfood infused ‘green juice’ a day will definitely keep the doctors at bay! This year especially has seen the Mr and I drastically upping our veggie and micro-nutrient intake by incorporating homemade nutrient rich juices and smoothies into our eating regime.

Our versions are refined sugar free and loaded with essential vitamins and minerals. The concoctions you can whizz up in no time at all are absolutely endless but personally opt for either Spirulina, Wheatgrass, Chlorella combined with Kale, Spinach, Pear, apple, lime and coconut water or Greek yoghurt to keep me energized until lunch time.
