Not too long ago, I attended a low-key press launch for PhD Woman‘s newest product Greens & Berries Summer Fruits. Now this is not your typical protein shakeor energy bar the brand is renowne for, this product is…. Wait for it…. a superfood blend! I found this a pleasant surprise that a protein brand had acknowledged the ever growing demand for all things superfoods amongst health concious active women which ultimately led to PhD Woman creating of Greens & Berries Summer fruits.
What Is In Greens & Berries Summer Fruits?
Greens & Berries is, in a nutshell, a wholesome combination of greens, fruit and vegetable extracts, alongside a specific blend of vitamins and mineralstailored towards supporting the nutritional needs of active women.
The Greens and Berries formula contain an abundance of micronutrients(24 in total) including:
Botin – a mineral that is said to help maintain healthy hair, skin and nails.
Iron and Folic Acid – known to reduce tiredness and fatigue
Vitamin B6 – an essential vitamin that supports a healthy, hormonal balance.
Vitamin D and Calcium – known for playing a crucial part in maintaining healthy bones.
Vitamin C – which helps to promote a healthy immune system
Allergy Advice:For allergens, please see ingredients highlighted in bold. May also contain: Eggs, Nuts, Peanuts
Aside from being high in fibre, containing no added sugar(sucralose) and only 31 calories per serving (1 scoop 10 g), what I particularly like about this formula the inclusion of numerous micronutrients I have on a daily basis, including but not limited to Spirulina, Barely Brass, Wheatgrass, Goji Berries and Acai Berries which makes the price of £29.99for a 500 g tub pretty reasonable considering the cost of Spirulina and Acai Berry Powder on their own.
As far as taste goes, it has a pleasant hint of summer berries without being too overpowering. For me, it is not tastiest green powder I have had the pleasure of tasting, but would still recommend investing in a tub or two should you be looking to increase your micronutrient intake without the heavy price tag purchasing superfoods usually comes with.
I shall conclude my thoughts by expressing this product should NOTbe used as a meal replacement, but simply to consume as part of a healthy, balanced diet either mixed with just water or in your favorite drink / homemade smoothie.
