Love Raw Review – Great Tasting Vegan and Food Intolerant Alternative Snack Bars

With so much ‘snack bars’ currently in our supermarkets that are marketed as being ‘healthy’ yet are full to the brim with refined sugar and other nasties, I now opt for vegan and food Intolerant alternatives snacks as I know I can count on the ingredients to be 100% natural and free from refined sugar… an ingredient I have been avoiding like the plague since late December 13!

I received a lovely email from the Eat Love Raw team a few weeks back to see if I would be interested in trying their vegan friendly superfood bars.

Now as you already know I am a HUGE Superfood Fiend and love nothing more than discovering new snacks containing my favourite superfoods so did not hesitate in the slightest to take them up on the kind offer.

Before I share my thoughts of the bars sent I thought it would be insightful to give you a bit of background on the Eat Love Raw brand.

About Love Raw

Love Raw are a small Artisan company who are based in Cambridgeshire where they hand craft and pack the bars themselves.

Love Raw pride themselves on using premium Organic ingredients, source their superfoods from Ecuador and slow dry their superfood bars at 38 degrees so that no vitamins or minerals are lost in the process.

The brainchild behind the brand, Rimi, is a former investment banker who worked long hours with little job satisfaction before discovering a whole new world of organic food, local farmers markets and a whole new outlook on healthy living whilst on her travels.

Inspired by what she saw and frustrated by the lack of healthy food made with clean ingredients that caters for those with Gluten, Wheat and Dairy Intolerances, she began making recipes for friends and family and along the way discovered superfoods paired with potential health benefits.

This became the birth of Love Raw and as the old saying goes the rest is history.

No Nasties Just Natural Ingredients

Eat Love Raw use organic ingredients and slow dry their superfood bars at 38 degrees so that no vitamins or minerals are lost in the process.

For those with food intolerances you will be pleased to know that Eat Love Raw Superfood Bars are:

  • 100% Organic
  • 100% Raw
  • 100% Vegan

My Thoughts on Love Raw

Now you have a bit of an insight into Love Raw, I will now share with you my  thoughts on the samples sent.

Cacao and Maca Superfood Bar

Without exaggerating (rest assured I am not getting paid to say this), this particular bar is my absolute favourite vegan snack alternative I have tasted so far!

The texture is thick just like a brownie and my oh my has founder Rimi got this recipe spot on!

The dates make for a fantastic combination paired with cacao powder and maca. It was THAT goood it felt like I was eating a seriously unhealthy, carb filled, refined sugar loaded brownie!

Trust me when I say this bar is worth buying by the case load.

The macro nutritional breakdown of the Cacao and Maca 48g bar contains:

Typical Values            Per 48g       Per 100g

Energy (Kj)                            1516Kj            728Kj

Coconut and Chia Superfood Bar

This combination is heavenly, and has easily made its way into my Top 10 guilt free, vegan and food intolerant alternative snacks (an upcoming post soon to be published).

Again like the Cacao and Maca bar, it is thick and has enough bite for you to chew your way through the flavoursome ingredients.

The added addition of Chia Seeds works a treat!

You already know my love for all things coconut so knew I would like this bar even before I had even tried it!

The nutritional breakdown of the Coconut and Chia 48g bar contains:

Typical Values            Per 48g       Per 100g

Energy (Kj)                            1917Kj             921Kj

Carbohydrate                       37.2g                18g

Fat                                             32.6g                15.6g

As part of Love Raw’s superfood bar range, they also offer a Rose hip and Lemon flavour (I have yet to try this one so cannot comment on it).

Love Raw To Launch New Flavour

Rimi has been busy over the last few months perfecting her recipe for an additional superfood bar to be added to the existing range entitled ‘Cacao and Spirulina

As well as pairing the two main ingredients together (no second guessing what they are), this bar also contains coconut, almonds, cacao nibs and chia seeds with a hint of orange.

If the two bars I have the pleasure of trying were absolutely divine I am expecting this one to be just as wonderful!

The Cacao and Spirulina superfood bar has just been launched and will be available to purchase in most Whole-Food Stores in the UK from early February 14 onwards.
