Dairy Free Energising Comvita Manuka Honey UMF 10+ Breakfast Smoothie

Since being the lucky winner of  Joe Cross’ The Reboot Juice Diet’ book hosted by fellow natural products writer Beifit, I have been making more of an effort to have a fresh homemade juice / smoothie on a daily basis. Not only is this a fantastic way to get those all import nutrients into our system, they often leave you feeling energised and more alert. Looking for a simple breakfast smoothie recipe to fuel you until lunch? Then let me introduce you the Manuka Honey UMF10+ Breakfast Smoothie.

Comvita Manuka Honey Breakfast Smoothie (serves 2)

Ingredients  Used :

  • 1 x large ripe banana
  • 2 heaped tablespoons of Coyo Coconut Milk Yoghurt Natural
  • 2 teaspoons of Comvita UMF Manuka Honey (I used Comvita UMF 10+ but other Manuka Honey brands are ok).
  • 350ml chilled coconut water or organic apple juice (I opted to used Cawston Press Apple Juice).
  • 1 teaspoon of Maca Powder *optional* (I used Naturya Maca Powder in this instance but other brands are ok to use).

Method:

Simply put all of the ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth and creamy.

Note: Should you want a frozen yoghurt like texture, simply add a handful of icecubes into the blender along with the listed ingredients above and blend until you reach your desired texture.

The above recipe, given to me from the lovely folks at Comvita which didn’t orginally have the addition of Maca Powder in it but having experimented with a few variations I found adding Maca to my smoothies helps to boost my energy levels further!

Getting up each day at 5 am for a 6.30am start can sometimes be a hard work so need a natural, caffeine free alternative to increase my energy levels and this breakfast powerhouse does just that!

This is a dairy free recipe but when preparing for an intensive kickboxing training session, I like to swap the dairy free yoghurt option in favour of Greek yoghurt and 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, which ensures I am taking on some protein.

I have also made this smoothie using coconut water instead of organic apple juice for added electrolytes ahead of a workout as well as using my beloved aloe vera juice!

Have a play around with the ingredients, there really is no limit to what you can add or even omit. I would LOVE to see your creations of my Comvita Manuka Honey UMF10+ Breakfast Smoothie, and if you do decide to give this manuka honey breakfast smoothie a go, follow me and tag me in your Twitter, Facebook or Instagram pictures.

Lastly, if you are looking at purchasing Manuka Honey, please please read my Comvita Manuaka Honey UMF 10+ Review which apart from enlightening you on the potential health benefits, also includes useful  information on counterfeit Manuka Honey being distributed and sold worldwide and guidelines on how you can spot a ‘Manuka Honey Fake’.

Afterall, I would agree that investing in a jar of Manuka Honey can be somewhat expensive so want to ensure you spend your hard earned money on the real product and not be scammed!

Happy Blending All 🙂
