Since I am all about sharing my recent discoveries with you beautiful people I thought I would fill you in on one of the BEST kept beauty secrets of all time to help kick off Organic September 2015! Throughout my entire 30 years on this planet, I have been using various store bought deodorant sprays and roll-ons in a bid to stop my glands from producing sweat (especially during workouts) and whilst it has indeed done the trick at keeping me dry and odour free, I can honestly say that I am NEVER going back to purchasing another aerosol can or roll on deodorant again!

Why I hear you ask? Simply because I have found and fell head over heels in love with a natural alternative that is oh soooo kind to our delicate skin AND by far wins the battle of lasting much longer, thus giving you better value for your money….

I recently received a top beauty tip from a trusted friend who has been religiously using Organic Coconut Oil for years as a natural substitute to store bought deodorant. During our insightful conversation, she insisted that using organic coconut oil in this ways helps keeps you fresh and odour free throughout the day whilst also proudly boasting that she has never experienced that horrible underarm build up and painful bumps under the skin that most of us can relate to when using deodorant sprays and roll-ons.

More alarmingly however, is the increasing rise in case studies being quoted by leading health experts, professionals and known charities that worryingly link the frequent use of such store bought deodorants to diseases such as Cancer (specific brands were not mentioned in these case studies I came across during my research).

Being the ever curious individual that I am, I just had to try this beauty tip out for myself to truly believe her bold and confident claims and so the very next morning, whilst getting ready for work, I eagerly opened my kitchen cupboard and set aside my jar of Organic Coconut Oil for testing and was left pleasantly surprised and amazed at the results after a gruelling 10 hour day which involved endless amounts of walking across different terminals as part of my day job as a Compliance Manager at Heathrow Airport.

Speaking from my own experience, I simply could not get my head around just how great coconut oil actually worked as a deodorant substitute! It did a phenomenal job at keeping one fresh, dry AND most importantly odour free on what eventually turned out to be a hot and rather humid day in London a few weeks ago. Would you believe there wasn’t even a sweat patch in sight.

How To Use Coconut Oil As A Deodorant Substitute

  • Simply scoop half or 3rd of a teaspoon of coconut oil out of the jar and gently place across your fingers.
  • Using your fingertips on the opposite hand, rub the oil in a circular motion for no more than 5-10 seconds. The friction will cause the solid mass to warm up, turning the oil into a clear liquid. This is the exact consistency you want!
  • Now using each hand, rub the melted coconut oil into your underarms. Don’t worry if it feels a little greasy to begin with, or even it if starts to trickle down the sides of your arms, for your skin will quickly absorb all this goodness like a sponge.

That’s all there is too it folks! You’re now good to go 🙂 Seriously! *I can sense your baffled look on your faces as you just read that last sentence*

I have been using coconut oil as a deodorant substitute without any fragrance added for nearly three weeks now and honestly Swear By It! I am even more thrilled that my very sceptical significant other is a total convert too after filling him in. I am loving the way our household is becoming more and more natural products focused.

But for those that are perhaps are more comfortable trying this theory out with a mild scent, there is no harm in adding a few drops of your favourite essential oil such as Almond, Lavender or Tea Tree to the coconut oil just before rubbing your fingertips together to melt the oil before applying to your skin.

In celebration of Organic September, I challenge you beautiful readers to try this top beauty tip, even if it is only for one day! The results will indeed speak for itself and I bet after trying it you too will be converted and NEVER look back at using store bought deodorant again.

My Amazon Affiliate link can be found below should you wish to purchase the exact jar I used to conduct carry out this test. You do not have to specifically purchase this brand for any organic raw coconut oil used will provide the same results. Happy Experimenting!
