Nail Polish of The Week: HJ Manicure Caramel Latte

It feels like forever and a day since I wrote about green and organic beauty products here on This Woman’s Word but after months of testing an array of different skincare and cosmetics products behind the scenes, I am finally back on my green beauty grind! With spring just around the corner and hands officially out of hibernation (my hands suffer greatly during winter months) I thought it would be a good idea to showcase my favourite 5 Free nail polish hues in the form of my new weekly series Nail Polish of The Week and kicking off the series is HJ Manicure Caramel Latte.

There is no question nude hues look great! But finding the perfect nude to complement my yellow undertone skin tone has always been a bit tricky, that was until I discovered HJ Manicure. HJ Manicure launched their luxury 5 Free vegan friendly and cruelty free nail polishes back in late 2014, a press event I attended and instantly fell in love with the gorgeous elegant rectangle bottles.

The evening was put on by the ever delightful Green Beauty Guru Rebecca Goodyear where fellow beauty bloggers, industry leaders  and journalists were treated to devine vegan and vegetarian nibbles, networking, a lovely manicure and a complimentary HJ Manicure nail polish of our choice to take home and experiment with.

It is worth pointing out that nude shades in general can sometimes look different against different skin tones but on mine, HJ Manicure Caramel Latte boasts a stunningly elegant ray of creamy beige hues with an ever so slight subtle hint of neutral rosy pink hues that occasionally seeps through when completely dry. The consistency is reminiscent of a gel-like polish and when exposed to natural light, ones manicure almost looks shiny and reflective. Rest assured though, it does provide an opaque coverage when used with two coats.

That said, be sure to apply the coats thinly as being overly generous will result in a massive overspill on each side of your nails (lesson learnt). When completing the chip free test, I found on average HJ Manicure nail polishes last between 3-4 days before any signs of chipping are evident.

There are a total of six different shades within HJ Manicure Nude Collection, something I greatly appreciate from the lady behind the brand Helen J as every skin tone is truly catered for unlike most other brands who tend to only have one natural shade in their range and universally call it ‘nude’ a pet hate of mine.

Scenario’s like the one just mentioned often are a perfect match those with fair to porcelain skin tones so for me, it is extremely refreshing to see a green beauty, 5 Free nail polish brand in particular cater to women of colour.

It goes without mentioning that a nude manicure looks fantastic when paired alongside any colourful or dark ensembles and such as its versatility can be worn casually to special occasions.

Priced at £9.50 for a 14.8 ml bottle HJ Manicure have entered the green beauty 5 Free cosmetics industry as a luxury boutique nail brand where affordabilityvalue for money and creating on trend nail colours inspired by the fashion industry  are Helen’s main focus.

There is literally something for everyone at HJ Manicure, weather you’re personal preference is bold and bright, deep and dark or natural and sophisticated nail colours, the HJ Manicure website is definitely worth paying a visit!
