Leonor Greyl Review Part 1: Shampooing Reviviscence – Luxury Natural Shampoo For Dehydrated and Brittle Hair Types

For someone of part Caribbean heritage with neither a head of curls, a gorgeous afro or naturally straight hair, finding hair-care products that actually work on my hair type which, can only be described as a bushy, ever so slightly wavy tresses is in fact a laborious and expensive task! So when the opportunity came from my own initial enquiry to try some of Leonor Greyl’s Luxury Hair Care Products *a French Natural Hair-Care Brand* I couldn’t contain my excitement!

Leonor Greyl Background

Leonor Greyl was established after Leonor, a hair care and beauty fanatic, and Jean-Marie, an engineer and very keen botanist met back in 1968. Sharing a love and common interest in creating natural hair care products using plants and natural ingredients long before the ‘bio’ trend became a hit, the first Leonor Greyl line was born.

Over the years, their creations scored one success after another and became real must-haves. The much sought after Huile de Germe de Blé was the first oil to ever treat the scalp and wash it by foaming in contact with water; the Bain Traitant à la Propolis was the first ever daily anti-dandruff hair care product; the innovative Masque Fleurs de Jasmin for fine hair and Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou for long hair are also well known masterpieces created by Leonor Greyl.

After specifying my hair type to the lovely ladies at Azur PR, I was sent the Shampooing Reviviscence, Masque à L’Orchidée and Eclat Naturel PR samples to try out.

I will be first be sharing my thoughts on the Shampooing Reviviscene in this article with the other two products to follow separately for I don’t want you all to experience death by reading haha.

Packaging

There are honestly no words for the sheer quality when it comes to the packaging of Leonor Greyl’s  products, in particular the Shampooing Reviviscence. Encased in a white glossy cardboard box with raised gold lettering throughout I was smitten even before I opened the box to reveal the precious tube and its contents. If you’re a person like I that adores great packaging whilst admiring the attention to detail you too will succumb to losing a few minutes or more just gazing at the box whilst running your fingers across the slightly raised gold metallic lettering.

What I wasn’t expecting however, was the actual tube to be the same. The gold metallic lettering on the white glossy squeezable tube throughout together with Leonor Greyl’s distinctive logo at the centre simply oozes luxury and class (main picture above)

With packaging scoring an impressive 10/10 in my humble opinion, one couldn’t help but question if the actual contents will deliver. Well, it’s time to find out….

I found the Shampooing Reviviscence simply a joy to wash my hair with! The contents itself is a translucent orangey yellow colour and foams nicely when put in contact with the water.

It is worth mentioning I usually shampoo my hair twice, sometimes even three times before applying conditioner for I find shampoos in general do not foam up enough to wash my hair thoroughly upon first application but this was a different experience with Leonor Greyl. One application the diameter of a tangerine was enough to thoroughly wash my mid length frizzy tresses.

As for the aroma, flowers come to mind which is no surprise as the use Sea Lavender is present along with Amaranth extracts.

Product Score 9.5/10

Price

Leonor Greyl Shampooing Reviviscence is currently priced at  €49.15 (£39.22) when brought from directly from their website I must admit paying over £35 for only shampoo is arguably pretty steep and therefore can see why some people might be hesitant in purchasing. This brings the score on price down to 8.5/10 for it is not what I call easily affordable.

On that note, I personally think the price reflects the sheer quality of the product and liken Leonor Greyl to other luxury hair-care products from brands such as L’Oreal Kerastase and Paul Mitchell I previously purchased and used before my transition to natural brands at the beginning of this year.

Verdict

I for one am delighted to have come across an all-natural luxury hair-care brand that delivers the same luxurious results as the other brands just mentioned minus all the nasties and toxins. I could definitely see myself purchasing this for myself once the shampoo eventually runs out. Overall score 9/10

That said Leonor Greyl Shampooing Reviviscence would not play a part of my regular hair-care routine, for I feel their products should be saved for special occasions when you need to look your most glamorous.

Have you tried Leonor Greyl Shampooing Reviviscene before? I’m keen to know your thoughts if you have.
