For those that know me personally would be first to agree that I LOVE nothing more than to challenge myself physically, but would I have honestly told you that qualifying as an indoor cycling instructor was on the cards in my ever evolving fitness journey? Probably not! See that all changed when an email landed in my inbox back in August last year inviting me and a few other select fitness bloggers down to the Oasis Leisure Centre for a one day intensive course with one of the fitness industries training providers, The Training Room.

Now The Training Rooms does not usually provide individual CPD courses but they made an exception for a few lucky fitness bloggers (me included) in order to give us a taste of what The Training Room have to offer as part of the personal training course.

Indoor Studio Cycle Overview With The Training Room

Once registered and a given a brief introduction about the day ahead with The Training Room and PR Rep Melissa, we started the day bright and early (9 am to be precise) with a 45-minute studio cycling class by our instructor for the day, David. Now I am not really used to working out soooo early in the morning as I am type of person who  usually trains after work / evenings and aside from the workout thoroughly waking me up, I felt energised and more mentally alert!

After we replenished our bodies with what I recall to be fluid, nuts and a banana, we settled down to learn the content of the indoor studio course which included health and safety, learning the teaching techniques of different manoeuvres together with learning how to structure a class that caters to different fitness abilities and learning styles. We were also taught the correct way to  set up a bike station which for me, proved to be extremely beneficial, especially when one has no doubt failed on many occasions when attempting to adjust my seating position in the correct position at various indoor cycling sessions.

After a few intensive hours digesting the information given to us thus far, we broke for lunch and was treated to a generous selection of sandwiches and bagels whilst using the opportunity to network with each other. After a few more hours of going over the content taught prior to lunch, which I’d like to mention was extremely well taught and structured for a one day crash-course, we concluded our day with a few formal assessments which in short included role play in small groups to introduce our clients to our classes, going through the health and safety aspects with them and demonstrating how to set up their bike station.

We then finally delivered our own session to the rest of the group, which was a bundle of fun despite being admittedly nervous prior to begin with but I needn’t have worried too much as the group were extremely enthusiastic, energetic and supportive of one another. You’ll be glad to know we all passed with flying colours!

Having previously completed a Level 2 Gym Instructor Course with a different training provider three years ago, I was delighted to had been given a unique opportunity to top up my CPD points, increasing my knowledge within the industry whilst comparing how other training providers structure their courses.

As you know fitness is one of my passions and when that time comes to consider progressing to a Level 3 or Master Personal Training Qualification in the near future please god, I will keep my positive experience with the Training Room in mind.

I would also like to thank Tribe Sports for the luxurious TTR branded t-shirt. I have been through a fair few training t-shirts in my lifetime but never have I had a t-shirt as silky soft and quick drying as the one we were given. LOVE the fabric 🙂

About Training Room

Despite offering beauty therapy courses with the view to offering training in catering and hospitality, TRR was originally established as a personal training careers provider where they ensure that each of their students are what they like to call ‘industry ready’ by creating numerous modules within their courses that equips them with a variety of fitness certifications and disciplines such as Circuit Training, Gym Based Boxing, and Exercise To Music to name a few.

This approach to personal training ultimately means that graduates of TTR can go on to comfortably apply for any role within the fitness and leisure industry. This will ensure that newly qualified Personal Trainers reach their maximum earning potential all whilst building a client base.
